Who Is James Ruesch
As James Ruesch watched the UTV market back in 2006 he saw a lot of opportunity. There were several UTV’s already in the market but they were all under 55” wide and Yamaha was already under fire for many deaths and injuries. The (CPSC) Consumer Product Safety Commission had launched an investigation into the safety of the Yamaha Rhino and none of the current manufacturers seemed interested in self regulating themselves. James Ruesch knew it was only a matter of time before the CPSC took action like they did with the 3 wheelers years earlier.
Mr. Ruesch attended every Sand Expo and off-road show he could and quickly discovered what people were doing with their UTV machines. They installed long travel kits for more stability, High back race seats with 5 point harnesses to keep you in the seat during a roll over, they were paying companies like Wasteland Performance upwards of 10K for engine swap kits and on and on. These machines when finished were selling between 30 and 40K and in most cases, every machine at the show was sold before the last day.
This is when it occurred to James Ruesch that there was a gold mine in front of him. James had spent a fare amount of time overseas and he was familiar with the Japanese way of building machines. Thirty days later, Mr. Ruesch opened a manufacturing company by the name of Ruesch Motor Company. This would become a company that gave the customer what they wanted right out of the box. Ruesch Motor Company was going to offer a 40K machine for half the cost. Better yet his machines would have the best warranty in the industry which everyone else lost the minute they started installing long travel kits.
The Ruesch name has a history for racing. James decided to capitalize off his name and build the fastest and highest performance machines available. Ruesch Motor Company built 6 different models in just three years. This is something the OEM’s weren’t able to do. They had a machine for every interest.
There was a lot of work that went into a new company with huge competition everywhere, but Ruesch Motor Company emerged very quickly as the machine of choice by those who wanted to get there first. Many wonder how a new company was able to come out of nowhere and in just three years build a brand that was recognized as the best in the industry.
